At the Thursday, June 19, Village Board meeting, the Board voted to increase the number of resident members serving on its standing advisory committees and plan commission to nine. This action is part of a broader effort to enhance public engagement and create more opportunities for residents to contribute their perspectives and expertise. The change created eight new seats across various committees and aligns with the Village’s ongoing reappointment process for advisory committee members.
As part of this effort, Village staff and trustees also reviewed current vacancies across all boards, committees, and commissions. The Village is now accepting applications from qualified residents interested in serving their community.
There are currently 22 vacancies across the various advisory committees and commissions. Openings include the Community Promotions & Tourism Committee (5), Community Relations Committee (2), Economic & Community Development Committee (4), Finance & Administration Committee (4), Public Safety and Transportation Committee (1), Public Works & Environmental Concerns Committee (1), Plan Commission (3) and Historic Preservation Commission (2).
“Getting more residents involved is one of the best things we can do for our community. These advisory committees are where ideas are shaped, and they play an important role in helping the Board make decisions,” said Village President Anthony Puccio. “We encourage anyone who wants to get involved to apply.”
To ensure community awareness of these opportunities, the Village will be promoting them across all of its communication platforms, including the Village website, e-newsletters, social media and printed publications. These efforts are intended to reach residents throughout the community and encourage interested individuals to apply on the Village website.
Seated terms for committee positions range from two to five years. Applicants must be Lombard residents. While there are no formal professional requirements, individuals with relevant experience in a committee’s subject area are strongly encouraged to apply.

Residents who applied more than one year ago are encouraged to reapply to ensure their information is up to date.
