On Friday, March 13, 2026, just after noon, the Lombard Fire Department responded to reports of a commercial contractor van on fire in the driveway of a home in the 1400 block of Oak Meadow Court. While fire and EMS units were responding, DuComm upgraded the call to a working fire response after receiving reports that the fire from the van had spread to the home.
The first Lombard Fire Department crews arrived on scene less than five minutes after the original dispatch. Firefighters found a commercial contractor van in the driveway fully involved in fire, with flames spreading to the nearby home and extending to the house next door.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to extinguish the burning van and contain the fire spreading to both homes. Crews entered both residences and confirmed that fire damage was limited to the exterior of the homes and the van in the driveway.
The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene and began an investigation into the cause of the fire. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Both homes remain habitable. Preliminary damage estimates are believed to exceed $60,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Lombard Fire Department received assistance from the Oak Brook Fire Department and the York Center, Lisle-Woodridge and Oak Brook Terrace Fire Protection Districts.
