Applying to Serve
The Village of Lombard actively seeks qualified resident candidates to serve on its volunteer boards, committees, and commissions.
At the Village Board Meeting on Thursday, July 15, Village Trustees and staff discussed current vacancies and efforts being made seeking applications from qualified candidates.
If you are interested in serving, please fill out the online application form for consideration. If you have previously submitted an application prior to July 1, 2021, and wish to be considered for any of the current vacancies, please submit a new application.
Village Board of Trustees
Village Board of Trustees meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room. Board members serve four-year terms.

Board of Building Appeals
The Board of Building Appeals (BOBA) hears cases in which there is a disagreement with the Village’s interpretation of the Building Codes and reviews proposed changes in the Village Building codes. BOBA is scheduled to meet on the first Wednesday of February, May, August, and November at Village Hall. Board members serve three-year terms.

Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
These meetings are held on the fourth Friday of the month at 7 a.m. in the Village Hall Board Room. Commissioners serve three-year terms. Rules and Regulations

Board of Local Improvements
The Lombard Board of Local Improvements has as its sole responsibility the establishment, development and financial supervision of any local improvements which are partially or in whole paid by Special Assessment. These meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. Board members serve two-year terms.

Lombard is home to passionate and involved residents who volunteer their time and expertise to serve on Village Committees. Throughout the year, there are at least nine active committees, consisting of more than 60 residents, attending more than 100 public meetings each year. The hard work of these qualified resident volunteers, evaluating issues before they are presented to the Board, further contribute to the ability of our Village Board meetings to run at a high level of efficiency.
Community Promotion and Tourism Committee
The Community Promotion and Tourism oversees hotel/motel tax funding within the annual budget and oversees events or tourism overnight stays within the Village. The committee administers local tourism grant program funding requested by community organizations. These meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall.

Community Relations Committee
The Community Relations Committee considers and makes recommendations to the Corporate Authorities regarding Social Services, Senior Citizens and Youth. The committee reviews, recommends and promote programs that recognize cultural diversity in the community. These meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Economic and Community Development Committee
The Economic and Community Development Committee considers and makes recommendations to the Corporate Authorities regarding solid working relationships with the community, development, resources and grants, downtown redevelopment and Tax Increment Financing Districts. This committee meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in Village Hall. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Finance and Administration Committee
The Finance and Administration Committee reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations to the corporate authorities on matters pertaining to the financial operation and financial reporting of the village regarding Expenditure Reports, Review of the Annual Budget, Monitoring of Revenues, Audit Procedures and Water and Sewer Service. The Finance and Administration Committee meets the fourth Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission has the authority to recommend the designation or rejection of sites having a special historical or community interest or value, thereby making the designation as a "landmark site" or "landmark district", based on the character, interest, or value as part of the development, heritage, or cultural characteristics of the village, the architectural significance and/or archaeological importance. This committee meets quarterly on the third Tuesday of January/April/July/October at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

The Plan Commission of the Village of Lombard has the following authority and duties: Review all applications for text or map amendments, review all applications for conditional uses, hold hearings thereon review all applications for companion variations made as a part of a petition for map amendment, annexation, conditional use, or plat application, hold hearings thereon, review all applications for site plan approval for planned developments, hold hearings thereon, report findings to the Board of Trustees and to approve or disapprove such petitions. Coordinate the enforcement of this ordinance with the Official Comprehensive Plan and its amendments. This group meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room. Commission members serve four-year terms.

Public Works and Environmental Concerns Committee
The Public Works and Environmental Concerns Committee considers and makes recommendations to the Corporate Authorities regarding Public Works standards and ordinances, and matters concerning health, and environmental quality concerns in the Village; plus street lighting, drainage, sewers, streets and sidewalks, forestry, subdivisions flood control and water meters issues. The Public Works and Environmental Concerns Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Public Safety and Transportation Committee
The Public Safety and Transportation Committee is responsible for reviewing and reporting upon all methods and forms of transportation affecting the Village, including both public and private methods of transportation, as well as reviewing and providing recommendations regarding traffic and safety matters in the Village. The Committee also reviews and makes recommendations regarding complaints about traffic and/or parking issues based on guidance provided in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The MUTCD sets warrants that must be met to install new traffic control measures, such as stop signs and crosswalks.This committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Lombard Zoning Board of Appeals has the following authorities and duties: To hear appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Director of Community Development and prepare a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, to hear petitions for variations and prepare recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees. The ZBA meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room. ZBA members serve a three-year term.
