The Large Diameter Combined Sewer Rehabilitation Project will begin the week of July 29, 2024, weather permitting. The project will primarily utilize trenchless technology so most of the work will be done underground. A spray-on geopolymer will extend the life of this critical pipe, which ranges from 90” to 108” in diameter. More information is available at www.villageoflombard.org/544/FY2024-Large-Diameter-Combined-Sewer-Reh.
The work will begin in Lombard Common and go south along Fairfield, then west on Washington across Main to Hickory, and end near I-355. The contractor expects to reach Main Street before ending operations for the winter. Work will resume in Spring 2025 and be completed by August 2025. Work will involve bypass pumping (contained within the existing sewer), sewer cleaning and televising, manhole lining, lateral service connections, and installing sewer cleanouts (at the property line where necessary).
Throughout the project, there may be temporary one-way traffic in work zones. USPS and Waste Management services will continue uninterrupted. Residents along the project corridor are encouraged to sign up for updates via Notify Me at www.villageoflombard.org/list.aspx?ListID=260.
