May 19-25, 2024, marks the 50th annual National EMS Week. This year's theme is "Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future." National EMS Week unites local communities and medical personnel to promote safety and recognize the commitment of those who deliver vital lifesaving medical services on a daily basis.
The Lombard Fire Department remains one of the busiest in DuPage County, requiring all firefighters to be EMS-certified. In 2023, they responded to 7,691 service calls, with 6,051 of those being EMS runs.
