[ARCHIVED] Halloween 2023: Be Safe & Have Fun

purple background with orange pumpkins and trick or treat text

Halloween is on Tuesday, October 31st, and the Village is recommending trick-or-treating hours from 3- 7 p.m. Children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult and should only approach well-lit homes in safe places.

Residents who choose to participate are encouraged to illuminate the outside of their homes to let children know they are welcome. Unaccompanied older children should be cautioned to only approach well-lit homes, avoid dark or deserted areas, cross only at intersections and watch out for cars.

Drivers should be cautious of increased pedestrian traffic along side streets, as dark costumes and low light conditions can create visibility challenges. Please slow down and be aware of your surroundings when driving throughout the Village.

Lombard Chamber of Commerce: Spooktacular
Sunday, October 22 | 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Celebrate Spooktacular 2023 in Downtown Lombard!  Enjoy games, trick or treating, costume contest, scavenger hunt, bounce houses, craft fair, live entertainment, and much more.

Safety Tips to Keep Your Children Safe

  • Always accompany your children when trick-or-treating. If your child will be trick-or-treating without you, plan a familiar route and set a curfew.
  • Teach children to look both ways before crossing the street, and to use traffic signals and crosswalks. Review additional safety rules, including staying with the group, walking only on the sidewalk, approaching only clearly lit homes, and never going inside a home or car for a treat.
  • Check your children's candy before they eat it. Discard anything that's not sealed, has torn packaging, or looks questionable. If you have young children, weed out gum, peanuts, hard candies, and other choking hazards. If your child has food allergies, check candy labels carefully. When in doubt, throw it out!
  • ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings. Report any dangerous or suspicious activities to Lombard Police.
