[ARCHIVED] Police Urge Residents to Leave the Fireworks to the Pros

Fireworks and American flag

With the Fourth of July weekend approaching, the Lombard Police Department urges residents to leave fireworks to the professionals. Not only is the use of illegal fireworks dangerous and can lead to serious injury, but the loud noise can also cause distress for our community’s children, seniors, veterans, and pets.

Additionally, the discharging of fireworks, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, and roman candles is not allowed in Illinois under state regulations and is a violation of state law and Village ordinances.

Lombard Police officers will respond and appropriately handle all calls for service regarding fireworks complaints. If found in violation of any fireworks statutes, fireworks may be confiscated and individuals cited. To report violations, call the Lombard Police Department non-emergency number at 630-873-4400.

Please be kind to your neighbors and our community this 4th of July.
