[ARCHIVED] Lombard Man Facing Multiple Felony Drug Charges

Social Image Police Department Update

The Lombard Police Department announced today that a Lombard resident has been charged with five felony charges for the alleged possession and sale of drugs and controlled substances to local high school students.  Ryan Setaram, 23, of the 200 S. Block of Highland appeared at a bond hearing where bond was set at $50,000 with 10% to apply.

A couple of months ago, a Lombard Police Department’s High School Resource Officer (SRO) initiated a drug overdose investigation which led undercover drug unit detectives to issue a search warrant at the residence of Setaram, in the 200 block of S. Highland. At the residence, police recovered 856 grams of cannabis, six cannabis plants, 7,500 grams of cannabis gummies, 1,011 pills of Xanax, Hydrocodone, Ecstasy, and over $3,500 in cash. Setaram was charged with five felonies including possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of Hydrocodone with intent to deliver, possession of Alprazolam with intent to deliver, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

“This arrest was the direct result of our team’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our schools and community,” stated Lombard Police Chief Roy Newton. “I commend the fine work of our investigative team and the officers involved in the successful apprehension of the suspect in this case. I am certain that countless lives were saved of youth who may have experimented with a purchase. This case also underscores the value that School Resource Officers provide our community.”

“I also want to thank the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office for their support in holding the defendant accountable and pursuing charges in this case aggressively,” Newton said.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
