The Village’s annual Sewer Cleaning and Televising Program is now underway and will continue through late September. This maintenance work helps reduce the risk of sewer backups and supports the long-term health of Lombard’s infrastructure.
Each year, the Public Works Department contracts with professional crews to clean and inspect various sections of the Village’s sewer system. In 2025, work is focused on the southern portion of the Village, from Madison Street to Butterfield Road. As part of the cleaning work, a high-pressure water jet and vacuum system is used to remove sediment, grease, and debris. If tree roots are encountered, root-cutting tools are used to safely remove them. Televising involves inserting a high-definition camera into sewer lines to document their internal condition and identify potential issues for future maintenance.
The work is being performed by Sewertech LLC, based in Schaumburg, Illinois. Most on-site work is completed within a few hours, including equipment setup and cleanup. While minor disruptions such as brief lane closures may occur, they are expected to be temporary and minimal.
