The Village’s Large Diameter Combined Sewer Project is progressing on schedule, with current work taking place in the rear yards of the Green Valley Subdivision (bounded by Hickory, Washington, Park, and Elizabeth Streets). Crews will continue west along West Hickory Street toward Finley Road once this phase is complete.
This project uses trenchless technology to reduce the need for excavation. However, access to underground infrastructure is still required through existing manholes, including those located in roadways. As a result, the intersection of South Elizabeth Street and West Hickory Street will be temporarily closed for just under one month. Favorable weather and project conditions may allow the closure to end sooner.
What to Expect:
- Driveway Access Maintained: Residents in the Green Valley Subdivision and along West Hickory Street will continue to have access to their driveways during construction. Please follow the entry/exit routes shown on the detour map on the back of this newsletter.
- Material Storage & Parking Restrictions: As work reaches the South Elizabeth and West Hickory intersection, materials will be staged along West Hickory Street, South Brewster Avenue, and Edson Street. "No Parking" signs will be posted on West Hickory to maintain safe two-way traffic.
- Additional Crew Starting June 2: A second crew will begin work along West Hickory Street during the week of June 2. Affected residents will continue to have driveway access.
- Stay Informed: Door hangers or hand-delivered notices will be used to communicate any short-term impacts to access or parking. To receive real-time email or text notifications, sign up for Notify Me®.
