The Lombard Police Department announced the results of their recent Super Bowl weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign. The goal was to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.
During the enforcement period, which ran from Friday, Feb. 7, through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 10, Lombard Police issued the following citations and made the following arrests:
- 20 seat belt citations
- 2 child safety seat citations
- 5 speeding citations
- 2 distracted driving citations (cell phone use)
- 2 other citations (moving/non-moving violations)
- 2 traffic-related arrests (suspended/revoked/no valid driver’s license)
“We’re committed to keeping our roads safe by cracking down on impaired driving, seat belt violations and other dangerous offenses. Our goal isn’t just enforcement, it’s about saving lives,” commented Lombard Police Sergeant Tom Balsitis.
The recent Super Bowl enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
