St. Charles Road is currently closed from Main St to Elizabeth St due to a gas leak. The leak was caused by construction work related to the downtown sidewalk project. As a safety precaution, all businesses located in this area have been closed and residents evacuated. Those within the area of St. Charles Rd between Main St and Park Ave from Orchard Terrace to Michael McGuire Dr should remain out of the area until further notice.
Nicor is currently on the scene and working to fix the leak. An update will be shared once the area is cleared and the road is reopened.
