Metra Station Maintenance & Responsibilities

The Lombard Metra Station is owned and operated by Metra, with maintenance responsibilities shared between Metra, Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and the Village of Lombard.

Metra manages station operations, including:

  • Station building access and hours
  • Passenger use of the station and platforms
  • Warming shelters on upper-level platforms
  • Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Responsibilities

UPRR maintains key structural and exterior elements of the station, including:

  • Outside of the station building
  • Platforms, ramps, stairs, and tunnel
  • Snow and ice removal in these areas
  • Exterior trash removal
  • Enforcement of the no-smoking policy

The Village provides support services and maintenance, including:

  • Interior janitorial cleaning and restocking supplies (soap, paper products)
  • Interior building maintenance
  • Graffiti removal and security camera maintenance
  • Tunnel cleaning and trash removal
  • Bicycle storage areas
  • Landscaping, sidewalks, and street-level trash cans (via contractor)
  • Nearby roadway maintenance, including Parkside Avenue and Michael McGuire Drive
