Tips to Help Reduce Flooding RisksAs spring and summer approach, the Village reminds residents that these seasons bring an increased risk of flooding due to factors such as frozen ground, snowmelt and heavy rainstorms. Residents can take simple steps to help reduce localized flooding: - Do not alter grading or fill areas on your property without a Village permit
- Avoid placing items such as sheds or raised garden beds in drainage paths
- Keep storm drain lids clear of leaves and debris to ensure proper water flow
- Make sure downspouts direct water away from your home and neighboring properties
The Village offers programs to help residents address drainage concerns, including an Overhead Sewer Grant and a Residential Drainage Program for qualifying properties.
