Lombard Infrastructure Project Earns Statewide Engineering AwardThe Village's Large-Diameter Combined Sewer Lining Project has received a Special Achievement Award in the Waste and Storm Water category from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC Illinois) as part of its annual Engineering Excellence Awards. Completed in 2024 and 2025, the project rehabilitated a key portion of Lombard’s combined sewer system using advanced trenchless technology, improving system reliability while minimizing disruption to residents and businesses. “This recognition reflects the Village’s proactive investment in infrastructure that protects our community and environment,” said Public Works Director Carl Goldsmith. The award was presented to the Village’s consulting engineer, Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., and highlights Lombard’s continued commitment to maintaining critical infrastructure that serves residents and businesses.

Reminder: Change your Clocks, Change your Batteries As residents prepare to “spring forward” for daylight saving time on Sunday, March 8, the Lombard Fire Department is reminding everyone to take a moment to check the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Worn-out or missing batteries are the leading cause of non-working smoke alarms. Replacing them at least once a year, testing alarms, and reminding others to do the same can help prevent fire-related injuries and deaths.

Lombard Fire Department Responds to Residential FireOn the evening of March 3, the Lombard Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 2S100 block of Lloyd Avenue after a neighbor reported smoke and flames coming from the home. Fire crews arrived within minutes and found flames visible on the exterior with heavy smoke from the roof. Firefighters quickly contained the fire and safely removed an adult male from inside the home. The fire was brought under control within approximately 10 minutes.
