Village Manager Announces Retirement
After more than 12 years of service to the Lombard community and more than 32 years in local government management, Village Manager Scott Niehaus has announced his retirement, effective June 19, 2026.
During his tenure, Niehaus guided major infrastructure improvements, strengthened the Village’s financial position, advanced economic development initiatives, and led the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership helped position Lombard for long-term success.
At its February 19 meeting, the Lombard Village Board of Trustees selected Deputy Village Manager Nicole Aranas to serve as the next Village Manager upon Niehaus’s retirement. Aranas has served Lombard for more than 13 years and brings over 25 years of public sector experience. She has worked closely with Niehaus on day-to-day operations and key Village initiatives and will help provide continuity and stability in the years ahead.
