Project Information
Project Limits: Various locations throughout the Village
Project: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate sanitary manholes. The program addresses deterioration from corrosive hydrogen sulfide gases (H2S), removes intrusive roots, repairs the bottom of the manhole to allow efficient flow of sewage through the system, and repairs cracks that allow groundwater into the sanitary sewer system (which reduces the capacity to convey sewage and also increases the treatment costs).
Project Schedule:
Project Award: February 16, 2023 (second year of a three-year contract)
Project Start: Week of July 17, 2023
Project Completion: Mid-August 2023
FAQ’s
Why is this project necessary? Manholes deteriorate over time and need to be periodically maintained. By lining and grouting them, corrosion is significantly reduced and inflow from groundwater is reduced.
How does this benefit the Village? Rehabilitated manholes have (a) reduced infiltration of groundwater b) improved structural integrity and c) improved sewage flow.
Will there be detours?
