PRIVATE ENGINEERING SERVICES INTERN

The Village of Lombard is seeking a Private Engineering Services Intern. This position will perform field inspections of privately and publicly owned detention ponds, prepare correspondences to the pond owners, develop and schedule to follow-up with pond owners to verify the completion of necessary improvements and update and maintain the pond inspection database. The position requires:

The ability to effectively write and speak clearly to staff and the general public.
Appropriate interpersonal skills for business and public contact.
Competencies in personal computers in a Windows environment and ability to utilize Village software applications.
The ability to work independently and in the absence of supervision.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, basic knowledge of hydrology and storm water detention systems, and possess a valid driver’s license. Should be enrolled in an accredited civil engineering college curriculum and have earned a minimum 24 credit hours or equivalent by the start of employment.

The Village is seeking help through the Summer of up to 40 hours per week. The hourly wage rate would be $16.00-$18.00/hour, based upon qualifications. The anticipated start date and work hours can be flexible based upon school schedules.

CD Electrical Inspector

The Village of Lombard, Illinois is seeking a full-time, Monday-Friday, Electrical Inspector to join our team in the Community Development Department. The main focus would be electrical inspections with ability to learn basic building inspections.

Responsibilities:

The Electrical Inspector performs inspections for buildings throughout the entire construction phase to ensure safety and code compliance
Inspector will inspect electrical installations during construction and upon completion for workmanship, use of proper materials, and compliance with electrical code.
The position is additionally responsible for performing some on-site building inspections, responding to complaints regarding property maintenance, code violations
Review of plans for proposed electrical work

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex information with staff as well as to contractors and residents
Proficiency in reading, interpreting plans, blueprints, and specifications, and comparing to ongoing construction.
Candidate should have a keen eye for detail, direct experience in the permitting, installation, and alteration of electrical work for new construction projects, ideally in both residential and commercial applications.
Candidate must be a team player, working closely with inspection team, and follow Building Division procedures in and out of the office.
The ideal candidate will be open to learning and working with new technology and software that is required to complete inspections and record inspection results.
Comprehensive understanding of modern building construction methods and practices, and relevant building and electrical codes and ordinances.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task daily with occasional emergency service requests.

Applicants should possess at minimum a high school diploma and the possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license. Required to obtain an ICC Residential and Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification within nine (9) months. A four-year Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training with five years of municipal electrical inspection code compliance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Salary commensurate with knowledge, experience and qualifications. The anticipated starting salary range is $75,725 to $105,523 annual salary, with an anticipated starting salary up to $86,899 DOQ, and full-time benefits package.

Maintenance Worker I – STREETS and Electrical

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of routine skilled and semi-skilled labor tasks in the construction, maintenance, operation, repair and replacement of Village streets, roadways, streetlights, right of ways, parkways, public grounds, public facilities and/or other infrastructure. The Maintenance Worker position requirements include plowing and salting streets, parking lots, etc. in assigned areas of town during the snow season. The position requires performing paving and patching operations on Village owned/maintained roadways and parking lots. The position requires an understanding of basic electrical theory and the ability to diagnose and repair street light outages and underground cable faults.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to carry, lift, push, pull or drag objects up to 50 pounds on a frequent and/or continuous basis. Responding to emergency call-outs is a critical and essential function of this position. The successful candidate must be available to respond to emergency situations outside of normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Reliability, flexibility, and a strong commitment to public service are key. Candidates must demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills, and the ability to carry out all tasks in a safe and professional manner.

The position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and candidates must demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn new skills, including obtaining a CDL, performing electrical repairs, and carrying out a wide range of street maintenance tasks: a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the work will be considered. A valid State of Illinois Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements is also required upon hire or within (3) three months of date of hire. FULL TIME POLICE RECORDS CLERK

The Village of Lombard is seeking a qualified candidate for a Full-Time Records Clerk position (40 hours per week) for the Lombard Police Department. Records personnel perform a variety of maintenance, compilation, retrieval and distribution of official police department records in order to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to police and village personnel and the general public. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

daily maintenance of the parking adjudication program to include attendance of two monthly parking adjudication hearings
classifying and coding of case report data to comply with The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)
maintain and update reports and records in the department’s record management system, including scanning and archiving case documents
process subpoenas and notices of trail
process record checks, expungement orders, FOIA requests
operate LEADS state records system to enter, modify, update, and retrieve data regarding persons, vehicle and property records
electronically transmit tickets and complaints to the Circuit Court Clerk
retrieve, record, summarize, and assist in the preparation of a variety of statistical reports
respond to and resolve citizen inquires or complaints
attend Parking Adjudication Hearings (2^nd Tuesday 6:30 pm and 4^th Saturday 9:30 am)
FOIA correspondence and redaction

Records personnel utilize several computer programs including MS Office and LEADS. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills. Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of clerical/customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
