Yard Waste Collection Begins April 1: Bundled Brush Require Stickers


Waste Management’s yard waste collection program in Lombard begins Monday, April 1. Bundled brush, as well as paper bags and cans of leaves and grass, must have a yard waste sticker attached.  Stickers are $2.37 each and are available at participating local stores.

Tree Trimming in Lombard


Lombard Public Works is continuing its 2019 Tree Trimming Program in the area north of Roosevelt and West of Main, up to train tracks in downtown Lombard. 

Additionally, ComEd has notified the Village that several trees have been identified as damaged or infested by the Emerald Ash Borer. ComEd has notified properties that will have tree trimming conducted in relation to the Emerald Ash Borer.

Police Crack Down on Illegal Cell Phone Use for Distracted Driving Awareness Month


Lombard is partnering with IDOT, Illinois State Police, and more than 100 local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to remind drivers: drop your phones or pay up.

The Lombard Police Department tickets for distracted driving year-round, including 1,244 cell phone use tickets issued in 2017. During the Distracted Driving Awareness Month campaign, grant funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) allows additional Lombard officers to patrol, seeking out violators.

Enforcement will include 350 dedicated hours of extra enforcement, including during Distracted Driving Awareness Week from April 21 – 27. Additionally, a roadside safety checkpoint will occur during the overnight hours of April 5, as part of IDOT’s impaired driving grant funding.

Sign Up For Public Works Citizens Academy 


Are you interested in finding out more about Public Works? The Public Works Citizens Academy is free, open to residents (18 and older), and offers hands-on training activities, tours of Village facilities, and presentations by Public Works staff. Lombard’s PWCA will be on Monday evenings, 6 - 8:30 p.m., April 15 – May 6, with a graduation event scheduled on Thursday, May 16, in conjunction with a regularly scheduled Village Board of Trustees Meeting.

Topics covered will include streets, electrical and forestry divisions as well as underground utilities. Participants will also see demonstrations, learn about Lombard’s utility systems, and tour the Glenbard Wastewater Authority. Sign up at villageoflombard.org/pwca
