Road Work Ahead

Westmore-Meyers Resurfacing and Crossing Improvements to Begin 


Westmore-Meyers Road, between Roosevelt Road and St. Charles Road, will be under construction for upgrade infrastructure improvements, beginning mid-September 2018.

The upgrades will include roadway resurfacing (without any changes to the existing lane configuration) and path crossing improvements at both the Great Western Trail and Illinois Prairie Path in order to improve safety. Motorists should expect lane closures and travel delays throughout the duration of the project. More 


9/11 Moment of Silence

Fire Department to Host Moment of Silence on 9/11


The Lombard Fire Department invites residents to join a brief ceremony, and a moment of silence to remember the 9/11 tragedy on Tuesday, September 11th.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m., around the flagpole at Fire Station 45, at 50 E. St. Charles Rd. Fire Chief Rick Sander and the Fire Department staff will lead a moment of silence and some brief comments.  More 


We Remember Blood Drive

Lombard's "We Remember" Blood Drive


2018 marks the 17th anniversary of the September 11th Attacks on the World Trade Center, and the Village of Lombard is joining organizations across the country to encourage blood donations to honor those who lost their lives.

Lombard’s Annual “We Remember” Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept.12, 2018, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Heartland Mobile Coach (parked outside entrance 5 between Von Maur and The Eatery), and 1:30 – 7 p.m., at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. All donors will receive a free Bears long-sleeved t-shirt, coupon for a free pint of Culver’s custard, a free entry voucher for Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm Pumpkin Fest and will be registered to win a Yorktown gift card.  More


Labor Day Drive Sober Campaign Results

Labor Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Campaign Results


Extra Lombard Police officers were out in force through the Labor Day Holiday, as part of the Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign.   Efforts included extra officers on the road and a roadside safety checkpoint during the overnight hours.

The results of the Labor Day enforcement campaign included 132 traffic stops, 5 DUI results, 47 seatbelt violations, 13 child seat citations, 27 uninsured vehicle citations, 25 speeding citations, 40 cellphone violation citations, 1 felony arrest, 2 criminal misdemeanor arrests, 3 warrant arrests, 7 suspended/revoked driver arrests, and 3 drug arrests.   The Labor Day campaign resulted in 174 citations and 21 arrests in total.     More 


Nominate Senior of the Year

Seeking Nominees for 2018 Senior of the Year Award


Last call!  The Village of Lombard is seeking nominations for its 13th Annual Senior of the Year Awards, which recognizes outstanding seniors who volunteer or go above and beyond to positively benefit the Lombard community.

The Senior Man and Senior Women of the Year Awards will be presented at the Village’s Senior Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Lombard Community Building at Lombard Common Park. The awards will be presented at 10 a.m. All nominees will be recognized and the winning seniors will ride in the 2019 Lilac Time Parade. More



Disaster Preparedness

September is National Preparedness Month - Prepare Now/Learn How  


Disaster can strike at any time and in honor of National Preparedness Month, residents are encouraged to connect with the Village of Lombard on social media, and to create a family emergency plan. “Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.”

Throughout September, the Village of Lombard will share useful tips and information on how to prepare for emergencies. Taking a few minutes to create an emergency kit and an emergency plan now, can help keep your family safe and calm if a disaster strikes.  More



Fire Hydrant Testing

Fire Department Fall Hydrant Testing


Lombard Fire Department began performing annual fall fire hydrant testing earlier this week. Workers will test more than 600+ hydrants over the course of an eight week period.

The fire hydrant testing program is a way to evaluate the Village’s water pumping and water distribution system. During hydrant testing, pairs of hydrants are thoroughly inspected and operated.  Flow readings are taken to evaluate system capability to provide sufficient water supply for fire suppression crews during a fire, commercial and residential water needs, and Public Work’s Water Department needs.  More



Recycling Extravaganza

Recycling Extravaganza on September 22 at Village Hall


The Village's Annual Recycling Extravaganza is scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd, 9 AM - 12 PM at Village Hall.  New items that will be accepted this year include musical instruments, sheet music and school/office/art supplies for local schools.   Electronics besides cell phones and hearing aids will not be accepted.  Visit our website for the complete list of all accepted items.  More
