St. Charles Road Crosswalk Improvements Project Update

May 2, 2025 -UPDATE

All barricades between Main Street and Elizabeth Street will be removed by early morning on Saturday, May 3, and two-way traffic will temporarily resume for the weekend. Barricades will remain east of Main Street. 

Please note:  St. Charles Road will be closed from 4:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, between Elizabeth Street and Main Street, for the 2025 Arts and Crafts Fair, hosted by the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce. More event information is available on the Lombard Chamber website. 

Due to inclement weather earlier this week, additional days were added to the construction schedule. Work will resume on Monday, May 5, as crews begin the remaining phases of crosswalk improvements along St. Charles Road.

Tentative Construction Schedule:

• Completed: Eastbound (phase 1) traffic only from Elizabeth St. to Garfield St.
• Current – May 3: Westbound traffic only from Elizabeth St. to Garfield St.
• May 5 – May 9: Eastbound (phase 2) traffic only from Elizabeth St. to Garfield St.
• May 12 – May 23: Road closures on Craig Pl., Garfield St., Charlotte St., Main St., Park Ave., S. Lincoln Ave. and N. Lincoln Ave.
• May 26 – June 6: Road closures on Park Ave., Main St. and Martha St.

Additional Reminders

As with any road construction, plan ahead for possible delays when traveling through the area. Please use extra caution while driving near construction zones: follow posted signage, reduce speed and be mindful of workers and pedestrians.
