Fourth of July Safety Campaign Begins June 16

The Lombard Police Department announced plans for stepped-up July Fourth traffic enforcement with a focus on impaired and unbuckled drivers. The safety campaign will run from June 16 through the early-morning hours of July 5 to encompass three summer weekends leading up to and after Independence Day.

“It’s simple: If you’re driving, don’t drink or use marijuana or other drugs,” said Lombard Traffic Safety Unit Officer Dan Herrera. “Our officers will be working around the clock to keep impaired drivers off the road and enforce all other traffic laws.”

Lombard Police Drone Program

On Tuesday, June 14th, the Lombard Police Department held its monthly drone training at the Surges Center in Lombard. The Village of Lombard adopted a Police Department Drone program to enhance response capabilities to a variety of incidents and events. These may include search and rescue of missing persons, documenting traffic accidents or crime-scene evidence, assessing natural disaster situations, and more.

Currently, there are nine officers trained and certified to operate these drones.

Track Work to Take Place on UP-West Line

Union Pacific Railroad has announced that it will embark on a major tie project on the UP-West Line. Metra riders may experience minor delays during the work, which is expected to last through the end of September.

Because the work will take place around the clock, residents of communities along the UP-West Line may hear more frequent train horns including during the evening and overnight hours. Federal law requires trains to sound their horns when entering a track work zone even if the work takes place in a community that is regulated as a quiet zone.

Lombard's Farmers Market on Tuesdays

The Lombard Farmers Market is being held every Tuesday from 2 pm to 7 pm through October. Don’t miss the live music, vendors, and fresh produce! It will be located on St. Charles Rd just east of Main St.

Early voting is available at 22 sites across DuPage County. The Early Voting program allows any eligible DuPage County voter to vote before Election Day. All locations are 100% compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
