Village Board Adopts 2021-2024 Strategic Plan

The Village of Lombard Board of Trustees formally approved its Strategic Plan for 2021-2024 on December 16, 2021.

The plan establishes a vision, mission, and guiding principles for the organization, and identifies priorities focused on advancing Lombard towards its vision. It also provides a blueprint and guide to align the budget process, capital improvement plan, important policy decisions, economic development initiatives, and public safety priorities moving forward.

The five identified strategic priorities are financial sustainability, economic development, communication and community image, operational excellence, and well-maintained infrastructure. For more information about the Strategic Plan, visit www.villageoflombard.org/214/Strategic-Plan.

If you have any questions or comments on the plan or wish to schedule an informative presentation for your organization, please email communications@villageoflombard.org.

Fire Department Trains for Ice and Water Rescues

As the winter weather continues, Lombard firefighters are training to battle the elements while responding to emergencies. This week, crews are practicing ice and water rescues at Lombard Village Hall. Like many of the training exercises firefighters embark on, ice rescues can be extremely dangerous. When a person enters cold water, they begin to lose their ability to use their arms, legs, hands and feet within seconds—increasing their risk of drowning or death.

The Lombard Fire Department reminds residents to never attempt an ice and water rescue themselves and to instead call 911.
