Grace St./St. Charles Rd. Railroad Crossing ClosureThe Union Pacific Railroad will CLOSE the Grace St./St. Charles Rd. crossing both northbound & southbound beginning Tuesday, August 17 to the 27 for construction. A detour will be in place utilizing the Main Street underpass.

Finley Road ResurfacingPublic Works is conducting a resurfacing project for portions of Finley Road & Elizabeth Street starting this week through September. Traffic will be impacted on Finley Rd. from Wilson Ave. to Hickory St. & additionally for Elizabeth St. from Madison St. to Hickory St. for resurfacing. A detour for through-traffic on Finley Rd. will utilize Edson Ave. in September. Traffic will be maintained on Madison, as well as all other East-West streets, plus Sunset Knoll Park & Recreation Center. Additional notices will be provided to residents in the construction zones. COVID-19 Update DuPage County’s COVID-19 community transmission is currently at “Substantial” level per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). In accordance with the latest guidance and recommendations from the CDC, as well as County and State public health agencies, as of August 9, 2021, all visitors to Village of Lombard buildings will be required to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status. Participants in meetings held at Village facilities will be permitted to remove their face coverings once seated, if they are fully vaccinated and able to maintain 6-feet of physical distancing from others.
Lombard Village Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For those that do not wish to wear a mask or who do not feel comfortable entering Village buildings, business can also be conducted using the Village’s convenient online or over the phone options including Pay a Bill, Online Permitting, Report a Concern and more.

Hydrant Flushing Begins Aug. 9Lombard Public Works will begin the annual hydrant flushing program on Monday, August 9, 2021. Normal flushing hours will be from 3:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and occasional overnight hours to not disrupt traffic and will take approximately six weeks to complete. Read more.

Police and Fire Citizen AcademiesThe Lombard Police and Fire Departments are now accepting registration for the fall classes of their citizen academies.

- Citizen Police Academy - The program provides a free opportunity for citizens to meet members of the Lombard Police force, while gaining a hands-on experience of police work. Classes will be taught by Lombard officers and cover topics including traffic stops, firearm training, search and seizure laws, defensive tactics training, police dog protocols and training, as well as other hands-on instruction. The free classes will take place Tuesday nights, 7 to 9:30 p.m., over a ten-week period, beginning September 7, 2021.

- Citizen’s Fire Academy - The Lombard Fire Department invites Lombard citizens or people working in Lombard, aged 18 and older, to participate in its first Citizen’s Fire Academy, beginning September 8. The program will be limited to 10 participants and we will meet for 5 consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The academy provides an understanding of how the fire department responds to fire and medical emergencies and will provide participants with practical fire and life safety tips they can use at home.
