DEA Drug Take Back at Lombard Police Station

Join the Village of Lombard for the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lombard Police Department, 235 E. Wilson Ave.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box. No needles, sharps or liquids will be accepted.

Public Works to Conduct Spring Hydrant Maintenance

Lombard Public Works will begin its annual hydrant maintenance program on over 900 hydrants beginning Monday, April 25, 2022. Crews will conduct maintenance work in the late afternoon/early evening hours over a three-week period and will not cause any disruption to water service to residents or businesses.

The hydrant maintenance program is a vital element of the Village’s water pumping and water distribution system maintenance program. During hydrant maintenance each hydrant is thoroughly inspected, oiled, and port caps are greased to ensure proper operability. This process ensures that hydrants can be operated by the Fire Department and Public Works Utilities Division crews in the event of a fire emergency or routine maintenance to the water system.

Village crews will be focusing their efforts from the Illinois Prairie Path to the north limits of Lombard, including the Industrial Park north of North Avenue. Please refer to the associated map for further details.

Stay Safe this Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month across the nation, and the Lombard Police Department is urging drivers to drop their phones and focus on the road with a not-so-subtle reminder: “Phone in One Hand. Ticket in the Other.”
