Lombard Redistricting Process UnderwayThe Village of Lombard has begun the process of redistricting, a process of redrawing Village district boundary lines based upon new census data, which must happen every ten years in alignment with the US Census. As a district-based community, State law requires no two districts have more than a 10 percent deviation in population. A dedicated redistricting webpage is now available with an overview of the redistricting process, proposed maps and frequently asked questions for public review and comment at www.villageoflombard.org/redistricting. According to the 2020 U.S Census results, the Village of Lombard's total population increased by 1,281 persons for a total population of 44,476 residents. Given the increase, the ideal district size is 7,413 residents. Since each district must meet the 10 percent threshold, no two districts may have a difference of more than 741 persons in total population. “Redistricting is a critical, once in a decade opportunity, which helps ensure Lombard residents have fair and equal representation on the Village Board,” said Village President Keith Giagnorio. “Our Board looks forward to helping ensure an open and transparent public process, free from any political influence over how the maps will be drawn.”

Tips to Help Prevent Freezing Pipes
As a cold front moves across the area, Lombard Public Works is reminding residents of some helpful tips to decrease the potential for frozen pipes, water damage and costly repairs.
- Shut outside vents in crawl spaces. Many homes, especially older ones, have water pipes that pass right next to outside vents which increases the risk of freezing.
- Open cabinet doors and closet doors where there are water pipes. This allows heat inside your home to get to the pipes and reduces the risk of freezing.
- Allow a trickle of water to run from your faucets to maintain flow through pipes near exterior walls.
- Know where the “shut-off” valves are in your home. Many fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and water heaters have an individual shut-off valve.
- If a leak occurs, turn off the water at the main shut-off.
- If a pipe should freeze, use a space heater or hair dryer to help slowly thaw the pipe. Do not use torches or heat guns.
Following these tips should help ensure a good winter season for you and your pipes!

Practice the #9PM RoutineThe Lombard Police Department reminds residents to remove valuables from their vehicles, lock their cars and homes, and turn on exterior lights as part of their 9 p.m. routine every night.
Many vehicle burglaries and thefts involve unlocked vehicles parked outside with valuables in them, some with the keys left inside. This simple routine each night can help deter crimes.

Parkside Road Closure Parkside Avenue between Main Street and Charlotte Street will remain closed through Jan. 28, 2022, by the Holladay Construction Company. A detour is in place to direct motorists around the block on Charlotte Street, Maple Street and Main Street. Please note, pedestrians continue to have uninterrupted access through the closure. Additionally, access to the commuter parking spaces and the three residential driveways remains accessible from Charlotte Street as “local traffic.”
