May 25 Project Update: Grace Street One-Way Traffic Southbound Only

Beginning Monday, June 5th, Grace Street between Prairie Avenue to Sunset Avenue will temporarily be restricted to one-way southbound traffic only. A detour route will be in place for northbound traffic using St. Charles Road, Main Street, and North Avenue. Please refer to the map below for details.

The one-way traffic modification is necessary as the contractor will be trenching across the roadway to install new water and sewer services between Prairie Avenue and Pleasant Lane. New fire hydrants, water main, and sanitary sewer will also be installed within the same area. The water and sewer work will be primarily trenchless north of Pleasant Avenue.

Grace Street Project Overview

The North Grace Street Utility Improvements project will begin the week of April 24th and continue through the summer. During the project, Grace Street between Prairie Avenue and Sunset Avenue will be restricted to southbound traffic only. Northbound traffic will be detoured accordingly.

This project will fix breaks, sags, and structural issues in the sanitary sewers and manholes. Also, sections of the water main and sanitary sewer will be lined with a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), and other sections of sanitary sewers will be wholly replaced.  Some water services will be moved onto a larger water main. In addition, the inside of the sanitary manholes will be lined to extend their life and make them water-tight. There will be periods when residents may not be able to access their driveways so overnight parking passes will be distributed as needed.

To stay informed about the project, sign up for email/text notifications through "Notify Me." Nearby residents will receive newsletters periodically to keep them updated about the project’s progress.
