On Thursday, November 10, 2022, at approximately 12:29 a.m., the Lombard Fire Department responded to a report of a fire inside a two-story, mixed-use commercial and residential multi-family building on the 300 block of S. Main St. While en route, dispatch advised crews that a resident in a second-floor apartment smelled smoke and heard a smoke alarm going off. The first Lombard Fire Department crew arrived on the scene at 12:35 a.m. and found a fire in one of the first-floor businesses.

Fire department personnel quickly began an interior attack on the fire while firefighters searched for and evacuated occupants living in the apartments above the fire. Additional crews checked adjacent businesses on the first floor for any fire extension. The fire was declared under control at 12:51 a.m.

There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters. Although one of the businesses on the first floor sustained heat and smoke damage, the building remained habitable for all residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit and caused approximately $50,000 in damage.

The Lombard Fire Department was assisted by the Addison, Elmhurst, and Villa Park Fire Departments, as well as the York Center Fire Protection District. The Lombard Police Department assisted with traffic and crowd control.
