The Lombard Fire Department is inviting residents to attend a community open house on Wednesday, October 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station 45, 50 E. St. Charles Rd, in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2022.
The fun and free open house will include demonstrations and the opportunity to meet your Lombard Firefighters and Paramedics. Everyone in attendance will get a closer look at Fire and EMS vehicles, the apparatus involved in firefighting and emergency responses. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape” works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.
“It’s important for everyone to plan and practice a home fire escape. Everyone needs to be prepared in advance so that they know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds,” said Fire Marshal Perry Johnson.
Attendees who have purchased a pink shirt are invited to wear their shirts for a group photo with the Fire Department at 7 p.m. in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink shirts will be available for purchase on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Rock Bottom at Yorktown Center from 12 - 3 p.m. to raise funds for Bhorade Cancer Care Center at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Anyone with questions about the event can contact Lombard Fire Marshal & Bureau Chief Perry Johnson at (630) 620-5750 or JohnsonP@villageoflombard.org.
