On Saturday, September 10, 2022, at approximately 3:49 p.m., the Lombard Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on the 300 block of W. Windsor Ave. The first Lombard Fire Department crew arrived on the scene at 3:52 p.m. and reported smoke and flames coming from the roof.
Firefighters quickly began an interior attack on the fire in the attic and were able to contain it before it spread into the home. Additional crews positioned tarps to preserve and protect the residents’ belongings from water damage. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians; however, the family will be displaced while repairs are being made to the residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit and caused approximately $45,000 in damage.
The Lombard Fire Department was assisted by the Addison, Elmhurst, and Villa Park Fire Departments, as well as the York Center Fire Protection District. The Lombard Police Department assisted with traffic and crowd control.
