During the recent Fourth of July safety campaign, the Lombard Police Department issued 80 seat belt and 23 child seat citations.
In addition, the Lombard Police Department issued the following:
- 42 speeding citations
- 55 cell phone citations
- 50 other citations (moving/non-moving)
- 8 traffic arrests (suspended/no valid Driver's License)
- 1 warrant arrest
- 2 misdemeanor arrests
- 1 felony arrest for possession of a controlled substance
Lombard Police joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies to get intoxicated drivers off our roads, encourage seat belt use, and enforce speeding and other traffic laws. The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including the Illinois Department of Transportation’s new media campaign: “It’s Not a Game.”
The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
