[ARCHIVED] Lombard Police Department one of highest rated in Illinois for DUI arrests

Social Image Police Department Update

In 2020, the Lombard Police Department achieved the second highest DUI arrest rate in Illinois based on department size and eighth in the state overall, with 3.49 arrests per sworn officer, according to Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists or AAIM. Throughout the year, Lombard Police made 220 driving under the influence arrests, despite less than average vehicles on the road due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lombard Police Department remains committed to keeping residents and motorists safe by showing a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to intoxicated driving. Lombard participates in Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click-It or Ticket campaigns for events and holidays including the Superbowl, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the December holiday season, which also includes New Year’s Eve.

“Despite decreased vehicles on the road due to COVID-19, Lombard continues to achieve high numbers of DUI arrests,” said Traffic Safety Unit Officer Dan Herrera. “While we are proud of these numbers, it’s our hope that one day there will be no impaired motorists to arrest. Until then, we will continue to crack down on drunk and impaired drivers.”
