The Village of Lombard has received notification of scheduled tree trimming from ComEd.
According to ComEd's website, trees and other vegetation cause about 13% of all electric service interruptions. Preventive pruning around aerial power lines is vital to providing reliable electric service. ComEd vegetation management crews are trained in proper arboricultural pruning techniques and take into account the species, growth rate and location of the tree in relation to the overhead wires, as well as the health of the tree, site conditions, and regulatory requirements before beginning any trimming project.
Asplundh, ComEd’s line clearance contractor, has been performing preventative tree maintenance in the Village of Lombard since late February and has additional work scheduled in early summer. This work provides necessary clearance between the power lines and vegetation is taking place along roadways and in the easements behind homes. ComEd will notify residents if backyard access will be necessary.
