Daylight Savings Time begins on March 14th, 2021 and one easy step you can take to help save lives is to change your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries when you change your clocks. Changing smoke alarm batteries when you change your clocks, testing alarms, and reminding others to do the same are some of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce these tragic deaths and injuries.
The National Fire Protection Association reports that more than two of every five of the smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected, or dead batteries. This reinforces how important it is to take this time each year to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Alarms should also be replaced every 10 years.
