Voting Statement from Village of Lombard from Village President and Board

Hello Fellow Lombardians,

On behalf of myself and the Village Board, it is my hope that this finds you and your family doing well during this challenging moment in our history.

During these uncertain times it may feel like one person can’t make a difference, but there is one thing that you can do, and one thing that you should do – and that’s vote. Voting is one of the most important roles we have as U.S. citizens. Even with so much noise going on around us, your voice matters. No matter how you’re choosing to vote this year, it is the civic duty of every eligible voter, to cast their ballot.

During any election season, you may encounter a fellow neighbor that has different opinions. In moments like these, it’s extremely important to remember that we have far more things in common with each other, than things that divide us.

When our town was hit by a tornado this past summer, it didn’t matter who we voted for. Neighbors showed up for one another and asked, “What do you need? How can I help?” That is the Lombard spirit and that is what Lombard pride is all about.

I want to be clear and say that I’m am not endorsing any political opinion. I am endorsing the idea that we all treat each other with decency and respect. There are plenty of things in this world that can divide us, if we let them. While we may be living in complicated times, I want to leave you with a simple reminder that we are all neighbors. We are all one community. We all want what’s best for our families, our futures, and each other. Please, let our commonalities be in the forefronts of our minds and remember that we can disagree with one another, without being disagreeable.

I hope you all cast your vote for our future, treat one another with kindness and respect, and do your best to represent what it means to be Lombard strong.

Thank you,
