At approximately 5:40 a.m., a home invasion occurred in the 400 block of South Highland Ave. The suspects entered the home, demanded property, and threatened a young female resident. A member of the household confronted one of the suspects who was armed. A struggle ensued and the suspect’s gun was discharged, striking the resident. The suspects then fled the scene. At this time, the resident is in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries.
Shortly before these crimes occurred, a similar home-invasion crime was reported in Wheaton. Lombard Police are working closely with the Wheaton Police Department and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether the two crimes are related.
