2017 Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year winners announced

Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year

On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Lombard's Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year Awards were presented during the 12th Annual Senior Fair at the Community Building at Lombard Common Park. The winners will ride in the 2018 Lilac Time Parade.

The 2017 Senior Man of the Year is Dennis McNicholas. Dennis has been an active business owner in the community for more than 25 years. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and is currently serving on the Village of Lombard’s Economic & Community Development Committee. He has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Lombard since joining in 1987 and has spearheaded their International Service Committee, which has provided fresh water wells in Haiti and shelter boxes for disasters around the world. Dennis and his wife raised their family in Lombard where he is also an active member of St. Pius X Church and is the lead cantor in the choir. He is a published author and participates in local triathlons.

The Senior Woman of the Year is Anna Weselak. Anna has lived in Lombard for more than 40 years. She and her husband raised their family in the community and she has been involved and volunteered her time with many local organizations. Anna has volunteered as the Former President of the National PTA, was a Member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce, is a Past President and active member of the Lombard Service League as well as the Zonta Club. Anna has also volunteered to serve others at her church.

“This event recognizes all of Lombard’s inspiring senior citizens. It’s just one way that we can say thank you for their contributions to our community,” said Trustee Robyn Pike, Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee, which organized the event.  “We hope that everyone who attended the fair was able to find out about a useful community group or resource. It’s the least we can do to give back to those who do so much for Lombard.”

The Senior Fair was attended by approximately 200 seniors and offered flu shots, massages and useful information from more than 30 vendors. The Senior Fair is run by the Community Relations Committee which consists of Chairperson Trustee Robyn Pike, Alternate Chairperson Trustee William Ware, and committee members, Ahmed Ali, Pamela Bedard, Jenelle Hardtke, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Barb Ware, Gladys Piper and Anthony Pacilli.
