[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Responds to House Fire

Crews immediately began an aggressive attack on the fire and initiated rapid search for victims. The fire was declared under control in approximately thirty minutes.  Firefighters continued to ventilate smoke and perform salvage and overhaul activities.   

The fire was believed to have started in a back bedroom according to a resident that was home when the fire began. The fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit. There were no injuries to citizens however, multiple pets perished in the fire. One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury and was not transported. The home was deemed uninhabitable with damage to the building and contents estimated to be over $100,000. 

Lombard firefighters were assisted by Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Oak Brook, and Villa Park Fire Departments, as well as Addison, Lisle Woodridge, Oakbrook Terrace, and York Center Fire Protection Districts.
