ComEd will begin tree trimming and vegetation maintenance in the Lombard area within the next few months as part of its routine efforts to improve electric reliability and public safety. Residents in affected areas have received or will receive postcard notifications from ComEd in advance of any scheduled work.
Tree trimming is necessary to remove branches and vines that interfere with power lines, which can create safety hazards and contribute to power outages. In some cases, tree removal may be required to maintain proper clearance around electrical equipment. When trees are removed, remaining stumps are treated with an approved herbicide to prevent regrowth.
All work is performed by qualified line-clearance professionals, and herbicide applications are handled by state-licensed applicators in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
Residents can view the notification letter, map, and postcard for additional details.
