Blood Drives at Village Hall and Yorktown Mall

The Village of Lombard hosts four blood drives per year, in conjunction with Heartland Blood Centers.  Volunteers are sometimes needed to assist with promotions, handouts and on site the day of the event.  If you are interested in finding out more, please email the Blood Drive Coordinator for more information.

Cruise Nights and Summer Concerts (Saturday nights through the summer)

DuPage Pads


DuPage Pads offers families and individuals a safe environment that begins with an extended trusting hand and affirming voice that helps begin the journey to self-sufficiency. Respect for each individual is a priority at DuPage PADS.

DuPage River Sweep

Volunteers from Lombard and Glen Ellyn remove trash along the banks of the East Branch DuPage River at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve off of St. Charles Road, just west of I-355. Information is at available at this link

DuPage Senior Citizens Council

The DuPage Senior Citizens Council is a not-for-profit agency devoted to enriching senior life. Their programs and services improve the quality of life for seniors so they can maintain their dignity as they continue to live in their homes and community. DuPage Senior Citizens Council



The organization is in urgent need of volunteers to deliver hot meals to local seniors. Volunteers pick up meals from one of 12 locations in DuPage County and deliver them to seniors in nearby communities. Meals are picked up for delivery Monday through Friday between 10:30 a.m. and noon and volunteers can choose to deliver meals daily, weekly or as a substitute. Anyone who would like to volunteer is asked to call (630) 620-0804, ext. 26.



Glenbard District 87

Volunteer in a variety of capacities, including Boosters, Citizens Advisory Council, Glen Ellyn Youth Center, Music Boosters, Parent Teacher Student Association (Glenbard North), Band and Orchestra Parents (Glenbard West),Choral Parents Association (Glenbard West), post-prom safe celebration, and being a general helper.  Glenbard School District 87



Business people are also encouraged to become partners with a school. Business partnership opportunities include: being a business mentor, offering job shadowing opportunities for students, providing a training site for students with disabilities, being a co-op employer, speaker's bureau and career internships. Healthy Lombard

Founded in October 2009, Healthy Lombard is a Village-wide Initiative that was formed in order to address the problem of Childhood Obesity with positive, effective solutions as well as promote living a healthy lifestyle. It sponsors a website, a calendar of village-wide events, and other “participation” activities such as Health Heroes, Fitness February, Lighten Up Lombard, Stepping Up Summer, and  G.Y. M. (Get Yourself Moving) Bags, that often involve both children and adults because, without great adult role models, children’s habits will not change. Call (630)916-0519 for volunteer opportunities. Lombard Historical Society

Volunteers who give tours, weed gardens, do research, stuff envelopes, make refreshments, demonstrate pioneer crafts, maintain museum archives, docent, and help museum staff make local history events happen, are valuable helpers to museums. Lombard Historical Society



Lombard Jr. Women's Club

The projects the club supports in the community include:  TLC Camp for children with cancer and a sibling which was started by them in 1983; the Lilac Princess Program, which they have sponsored since 2002, is a time-honored tradition promoting scholastic achievement among young women; the organization is concerned with the issues of domestic violence and child abuse and they serve senior citizens and the needy locally and globally.

Whether it's little league or Lilac Time, the Lombard Park District is always looking for volunteers who want to give back to their community. Spend time with your friends and neighbors while giving back to your very own neighborhood. Lombard Park District

 

 

Lombard Pride Cleanup – 4/28/18, 9AM-Noon

Help beautify bike trails, parks and other public areas in preparation for Lilac Time. Groups or individuals (of any age) pick up trash, or remove invasive buckthorn and garlic mustard from the Illinois Prairie Path and Great Western Trail, or just walk a nearby park with a trash bag. More info.

 

Lombard Recycling Extravaganza – 9/22/18, 9AM-Noon


The Village’s Municipal Complex becomes one big center to drop off many types of items for recycling.  Volunteers (ages 13+) are needed to unload items from cars and to sort books.

An organization with international affiliation that offers a diverse membership a wide range for voluntary community service, while providing members with opportunities for education, personal development and social interactions. Lombard Service League

Lombard-Villa Park Food Pantry


The Lombard-Villa Park Food Pantry is a non-profit agency partner of the Northern Illinois Food Bank and is designated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an Emergency Food Program.  Area residents, local grocery stores and businesses, churches, schools, service organizations and government agencies in Lombard, Villa Park and Oakbrook Terrace support the Food Pantry. Salvation Army


The Salvation Army always needs volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help with the annual Donut Day, working the summer kids' camps, enable Emergency Disaster Teams to assist those in trouble and held people down on their luck find a hot meal, a soft bed, friendship and a spiritual nurturing. For more information on volunteering, call (630) 808-4165. Salvation Army

VITAS Hospice Care


Hospice volunteers give their time to terminally ill patients and their caregivers during a critical time. In orientation classes, they are trained in listening skills, family dynamics and the right words to say to patients and their loved ones at the end of life.
