This summer, Lombard is partnering with the Warhol exhibition at the College of DuPage to showcase Warhol-themed special events, public art, and giveaways throughout the Village! Stay tuned for updates! 

Warhol Exhibition: June 3-September 10

The Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage will host an exhibition of Andy Warhol from June 3-September 10, 2023. The exhibition will feature 94 works from “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop / Works from the Bank of America Collection” on loan through Bank of America’s Art in our Communities® program. The exhibition will also include over 100 works from the College of DuPage Permanent Art Collection.

Warhol Pop-Art Challenge

Lombard participated in the DuPage Warhol Pop-Art Challenge and identified four notable faces from Lombard, which were transformed into bright and colorful Warhol-style pop art - as shown below. Lombard's pop art pieces will soon be placed on display at 109. S Main St for public viewing and can also be found inside the Sheldon Peck Homestead at 355 E Parkside Ave and the Lombard Historical Society Carriage House at 23 W Maple St.

Little Orphan Annie, a spunky curly-red-haired 11-year-old orphan, was immortalized in a 1924 Chicago Tribune comic strip by Lombardian Harold Gray.

Sheldon Peck 
Sheldon Peck (1797–1868) was a radical abolitionist and an itinerant folk artist. The Peck Homestead is a verified stop on the Underground Railroad. 

Daniel Tani 
In 2001 and 2007, NASA astronaut Lombardian Dan Tani reached the International Space  Station, becoming one of the few chosen to walk among the stars. 

Ellen Martin 
On April 6, 1891, Lombard attorney Ellen Martin became the first woman to vote in Illinois. Martin based her claim on the words of the town charter.

A Pop of Generosity: Warhol-inspired Canned Food Drive 

Warhol SoupThe Village and community partners are hosting a canned food drive with a Warhol-inspired twist to support the Outreach House in Lombard. Find our specially designed collection cans with our very own Lombard Campbell Soup label at the following locations through September 10th:

  • Helen Plum Library - 411 S Main St
  • Lombard Fire Station 45 - 50 E St. Charles Rd
  • Lombard Historical Society Carriage House - 23 W Maple St
  • Lombard Village Hall - 255 E Wilson Ave
  • Sunset Knoll Recreation Center - 820 Finley Rd
