Lombard Public Works is commencing its Traffic Signal Repainting Program, with upgrades of 7 intersections scheduled for late summer of 2019, beginning Monday, July 29.
The improvements will take place primarily along Main Street. The traffic signals will be repainted with a new black color for durability and consistency. Lane closures may be required, and motorists are asked to be cautious around workers and to follow signs when posted. The improvements will begin at Main Street and Wilson Avenue, continuing north, and this location will be completed prior to the academic school year.
The upgrades are in conjunction with Lombard’s Traffic Signal Modernization Program, which completed 24 signalized intersection locations throughout the Village. The improved locations feature LED traffic signals that are more durable, longer lasting, energy efficient, and are more visible to motorists. The locations also feature updated pedestrian signals, push buttons that are easier to use, and countdown timers. The improved signals are more resilient due to battery backup systems that continue to operate even when electrical power is lost.
The repainting program is part of Village traffic signal maintenance. Please contact Public Works at (630) 620-5740 or email@example.com with any questions.
