The Village of Lombard is encouraging residents to bring unwanted items for recycling at Lombard’s annual Recycling Extravaganza, Saturday, September 23, 2017, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave.
following materials will be accepted for recycling: paint (for a cost), car and
marine lead batteries, treated and untreated lumber, scrap metal (hangers, old
metal pots, swing sets, lawn furniture, gutters, washers and dryers, stoves,
hot water heaters and dish washers), clay/ceramic flower pots, fire
extinguishers and depressurized tanks, and books of all types. Several other community organizations will
also be collecting items for recycling or reuse at the Extravaganza. Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will collect
tools, hardware and building materials; Goodwill Industries will collect used
clothing in any condition, furniture and working appliances; Family Shelter
Services is collecting used cell phones and accessories; Lions Club will
collect eye glasses, hearing aids and metal keys; Glenbard East Ecology Club
will collect indoor and outdoor flower pots (no plastic) for reuse and
disassemble infant car seats for recycling; Rotary Club will collect bicycles,
crutches, non-motorized wheel chairs, canes and gently used shoes (no high
heels); and VFW members will accept American flags in any condition. Again this year, everyone is encouraged to
