The Village of Lombard is celebrating the second full week of April (April 9-15) as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week is dedicated to show appreciation to emergency dispatchers.
In times of emergency, the Village will communicate useful and important information via the Village’s website, on social media, and by email. Residents are encouraged to follow the “Village of Lombard” on Facebook, follow @LilacVillage on Twitter, and add their email address to the Village’s e-news list at www.villageoflombard.org/enews.
In addition, residents are encouraged to sign up for Smart911. This free service allows users to customize information that will be provided to emergency responders should that user ever need to call 9-1-1. Additional information may include a list of residents, potential medical concerns, medicines, and a list of pets in the home. Visit www.smart911.com to sign up.
This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.
