Lombard Public Works crews will be performing the annual fall fire hydrant maintenance beginning the week of September 19, 2016. Workers will visit more than 900+ hydrants over the course of a six week period.
The fire hydrant maintenance program is a vital part of the Village’s water pumping and water distribution system maintenance schedule. Crews will be concentrating their efforts in this program for approximately five to six weeks.
During hydrant maintenance each hydrant is thoroughly inspected, oiled, and port caps are greased to ensure proper operability. This process continues to ensure that fire hydrants can be operated by the Fire Department and Village repair crews in a time of need.
Village maintenance crews will be focusing their efforts from Maple Street to Roosevelt Road to also include The Manor Hill and Pinebrook Subdivisions. Please refer to the associated map for further details.
