Disaster can strike at any time and in honor of National Preparedness Month, the Village of Lombard is encouraging residents to create a family emergency plan. Don’t Wait. Communicate! Make your plan today.
Throughout September, the Village of Lombard will share useful tips and information on how to prepare for emergencies. Taking a few minutes to create an emergency kit and an emergency plan now, can help keep your family safe and calm if a disaster strikes. Families can create a contact list including work, personal and medical phone numbers that children may use in emergencies. Part of your plan should also include a neighborhood meeting place and a regional meeting place in case family members get lost or separated.
Emergency kits should be prepared ahead of time and should include important items including batteries, bottled water, prescription medicines, phone charger and a back-up battery and any necessary medical equipment. Be sure to be prepared before an emergency happens. For additional preparation plans and suggested emergency kit items, please visit www.ready.gov to learn how to help keep you and your family safe in times of emergency, disaster or crisis.
In times of emergency, the Village of Lombard will notify residents of informative updates on the Village website at www.VillageofLombard.org, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/villageoflombard, and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/lilacvillage. If you are already signed up for these notifications, encourage your family members and friends to sign up as well.
