The Hill Avenue Bridge over the East Branch of the DuPage River in western Lombard near Glen Ellyn will be closed to all traffic for six months due to reconstruction, beginning the week of July 18, 2016.
A signed detour route utilizing Crescent Boulevard will be established for the duration of the project. In advance of the bridge closure, temporary message boards will be posted on both the Glen Ellyn and Lombard sides of Hill Avenue. It is projected that the bridge will reopen in December of 2016.
The project design is per IDOT standards, with input from the Villages of Glen Ellyn and Lombard. The design and construction costs are funded at 80% by the State of Illinois’ Highway Bridge Program and 20% split evenly between the two Villages.
Motorists that utilize Hill Avenue are encouraged to sign up for the Village of Lombard’s “Notify Me” service at villageoflombard.org/notifyme to receive timely updates regarding construction in their area. “Notify Me” provides e-mail and text updates, including any potentially urgent information.
