In order to reduce future water main breaks and provide more than a 50–year extension of life to existing water mains along Roosevelt Road (Route 38), the Village of Lombard will be installing a new water main lining from Finley Road to Fairfield Avenue.

On Monday, June 13, the Village will host an open house to discuss the project and the subsequent construction as it relates to businesses, residents and commuters. The meeting is open to the public any time between 5:00 – 7:00 PM at National University of Health Sciences, Janse Hall, Building D, Room 139, 200 E. Roosevelt Road, Lombard.
The meeting will provide valuable and timely information to all those who will be affected by intermittent lane closures and detours, as the project is scheduled to begin in June and construction will continue through the end of the year.
Project information
With state-of-the-art materials and technology, the Village of Lombard will be installing approximately 7,000 feet of cured-in-place water main lining. Cured-in-place lining allows the same benefits of replacing existing water main, but eliminates the need for large trenches and ripping up the entire roadway. In addition, the time needed to install the cured-in-place lining, is much less than replacing existing water main.

The project extends along Roosevelt Road from Finley Road to Fairfield Avenue and involves installing a temporary water main, replacing valves, fire hydrants, and fittings as necessary, while installing the lining the existing water main. Work may also include installing new water main in some locations. While this will affect traffic through Lombard, all businesses will be open and accessible throughout construction.

More information
The meeting is open to the public; Village officials and consultants will be there to present the project and answer questions about the process, including construction timeline, potential service interruptions, and detour plans.
