At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4th, the Lombard Police Department responded to a single family residence for a Drug Overdose Death Investigation.

A deceased male was found inside the home with the cause of death being an apparent drug overdose. (Name, Age, location withheld at this time to ensure all family is properly notified).

Lombard Police Investigators led by Sgt. Mike Chudzinski developed a person of interest. At or around 9:30 p.m., Lombard Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the person of interest’s vehicle (2002 Pontiac) when a chase ensued. Lombard Police were assisted by many other police agencies as the pursuit went E/B 290 into Chicago. Per established policy, Lombard Officers terminated their pursuit at / around Congress and Lower Wacker. At that time, the pursuit was then taken over by the Chicago Police Department and the Illinois State Police.

Many hours later the vehicle was found abandoned in Bensenville with no suspect located. The vehicle was towed to the Lombard Police Department for processing. The Lombard Police with assistance from the DuPage County States Attorney Office will continue to develop leads in an attempt to apprehend the suspect(s). Further inquiries will be forthcoming as information develops.
