Lombard community organizations are uniting to celebrate the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 5, 5 – 9:30 p.m., in historic Downtown Lombard for the 10th Annual Jinglebell Jubilee celebration.
This year’s event is also sponsored by Mathnasium of Elmhurst, Nolan Agency and Waste Management.
Village President Keith Giagnorio will kick-off the event in Lilacia Park at the new time of 5:30 p.m., followed by a speech from Lombard Park District President Greg Ludwig. Immediately following, there will be a countdown to turn on Lilacia Park’s lights.Visitors can enjoy meeting with Santa and special characters throughout Lilacia Park. Warm up by a bonfire pit with hot cocoa and cookies and then swing by Maple Street Chapel from 7 – 9 p.m., for a festive sing along. A free holiday trolley will provide a warm and convenient connection between Lilacia Park and Downtown Lombard. Stroll through the streets to see real live dancers from the Dance Centre as they recreate scenes from “The Nutcracker” in store windows from 5 – 7 p.m.
Visit the Helen Plum Library from 5 – 8 p.m., to enjoy performances by the Glenbard East Madrigals and Sorella Singers at 6:10 p.m., 6:50 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. A craft project will be available in Youth Services starting at 5 p.m., and refreshments will be served. Library staff will be on hand to sign people up for library cards and check out materials. The Glenbard East Madrigal Singers are an a cappella vocal ensemble that specializes in English renaissance madrigal music. The group wears Renaissance-style costumes and adds period instruments to their performances.
The Lombard Historical Society’s Victorian Cottage Museum will host a “Candlelight Christmas Tour” from 6 - 8 p.m., in which participants will glimpse back in time to see a Christmas Eve during the Victorian times. Calling cards for the 10-minute tours will be available at the Carriage House to the rear of the museum. Fun kid’s crafts, live music, cookies and punch will also be available in the Carriage House.
